Mentor/Senior Mentor

Mentoring primary school children and secondary school youth from disadvantaged families to develop character strengths and social emotional competencies through building quality relationships with the children.
Planning learning activities for mentoring sessions and to be a positive role model to achieve following objectives:to develop confidence and character strengths in children for their personal growth;
to build positive and quality relationships with children and foster friendships amongst them and develop a sense of belonging to the community.Supporting in development of outcome measures and using data-driven approaches to track the development of children in CDAC programmes through observations, in-depth conversations and information sharing with schools. Using the data and outcomes derived from tracking, and work with other CDAC officers to review, and refine programme implementation to better achieve social mobility for low-income families’ children.
Fostering partnership with Singapore Ministry of Education and other community organisations to provide opportunities for children in disadvantaged families. This involves working with schools, parents, volunteers and community partners to provide transitioning support for these children as they progress from primary and eventually to secondary levels.

Strong beliefs in the child’s well being and overall development are necessary. This also includes a strong belief that every child can learn and is unique.
Experience in working with young children, particularly as part of the Student Development Team (SDT) in a primary school may be advantageous.
Experience in designing programmes to develop life skills and passion of children be it in aesthetics, sports, and outdoor education.
Practical experience in designing children programmes with a view to develop their self-interest, identity, and strengths is important.
Ability to work in teams is necessary. The work involves collaborations with colleagues within the department, across the whole CDAC and with external partners and volunteers.
Flexibility in working off-site, particularly at different CDAC centres or schools, as well as on weekends and evenings when necessary.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Candidates with more years of experience and the capability to lead may be considered for the Senior Mentor role.

Research Fellow

CDAC is embarking on an Impact Measurement (IM) pilot for its Primary Tuition Programme. The pilot will help CDAC better understand students' learning experience, engagement and progress, and strengthen how programme data is collected, analysed and used for improvement.

The Research Fellow will provide expert guidance to the CDAC project team and Research Assistants through a coach-the-team model. The role is focused on research design, data collection planning, qualitative protocol development, analysis guidance and quality assurance. The Research Fellow is not expected to take on regular on-ground fieldwork, but may advise on fieldwork processes and troubleshooting

Advise on the overall research approach, including sampling, data collection design and implementation considerations.
Review and provide feedback on student pre/post survey tools, tutor pulse questions and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) questions.
Guide the project team and Research Assistants on consistent data collection across centres.
Support the development of FGD protocols, facilitation guides and note-taking templates.
Advise on the analysis approach for survey data and qualitative findings.
Provide quality assurance for data collection, data interpretation and reporting.
Review emerging findings and support the development of key insights and recommendations.
Support the learning review to help CDAC translate findings into programme improvements.

Experience in education research, programme evaluation, social impact measurement, social science research or applied research.
Familiarity with survey methods and qualitative methods such as interviews or FGDs.
Able to explain research concepts clearly and practically to a practitioner team.
Comfortable working with community-based or education programmes.

Research Assistants

The Research Assistants will support the implementation of the IM pilot on a weekly part-time basis, including on-ground fieldwork duties. This means the Research Assistants will support survey administration, selected focused group discussion (FGD) facilitation, data cleaning, basic analysis and preparation of the pilot reporting pack.

Support the administration of post-surveys for Primary 6 students in September and Primary 3 students in October.
Assist with any additional survey administration activities as required.
Brief students using a standardised survey script and ensure instructions are communicated clearly and consistently.
Verify survey completion before submission and monitor survey completion rates.
Provide on-site coordination support during survey sessions at assigned CDAC centres.
Assist with FGDs, including logistics coordination, facilitation support, note-taking and light transcription.
Prepare field notes and documentation following survey or FGD sessions where required.
Enter survey responses and field records from hardcopy forms into digital databases or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Clean, organise and validate survey data, including checking for missing responses, duplicate entries and inconsistent coding or tags.
Support basic data analysis, including response rate calculations, pre-/post-survey comparisons, and centre-level summaries.
Assist in the preparation of the pilot reporting pack, including tables, charts and concise written summaries.
Work closely with the Research Fellow and the CDAC project team to ensure data is managed consistently, securely and responsibly.

Comfortable interacting with children, tutors and centre staff in community-based settings.
Organised, reliable, punctual and careful with details.
Able to follow standard instructions and maintain consistency across data collection sessions.
Comfortable using Excel, Google Sheets or similar tools.
Prior experience with surveys, interviews, FGDs or basic data analysis would be useful but is not compulsory.

Reporting to the team supervisor, the job scope is as follows:
• Open and closing of centre
• Performing counter duties and answering of enquiries
• Assisting clients with registration of programmes and application for assistance schemes
• Performing administrative and clerical duties such as collection of programme fees, data entry, centre maintenance and general housekeeping
• Promoting CDAC programmes and recruiting participants
• Preparing rooms and materials for centre activities
• Following up with attendance for centre activities and calling of absentees
• Preparing incident reports where applicable
• Handling walk-in donations
• Covering duties when necessary

Proficient in serving English and Mandarin-speaking clients.
Competent in Microsoft Office and email applications.
